Thanks for considering becoming part of the YD Volunteer team! We would not be able to run our programs without our dedicated team of volunteers. The process to sign up is straightforward:

Coordinate weekly meetings with your senior match for casual activities like chatting over coffee, playing games, or going for walks. |

Minimum 4 months commitment; flexible schedule; 1.5-2.5 hours per week |

Chat weekly with a few seniors to check in and have meaningful conversations, and report to the coordinator weekly via a call log. |
Friendly, reliable, and an active listener. If you do not have access to a phone, you can complete calls at the YD office. |

Support your senior match with their weekly shopping. |

Accompany a senior from their home to their appointment(s), providing physical and emotional support. No car needed! |
Patient, friendly and reliable. French skills an asset. Weekday availability. |

Support your senior match with computer and Internet questions, helping build confidence and independence with technology. |

WELLNESS GROUPS: HOOTENANNY |
Minimum four months commitment. Weekly Friday from 7pm-11:30pm |

Set up the space for the event (making coffee, moving furniture, etc), welcome participants, be an active and enthusiastic audience member (option to help host the event), clean up at the end of the night. |
Consistency, good communication skills, friendly and welcoming attitude, ability to carry chairs and small tables, musical knowledge an asset. |

WELLNESS GROUPS: PLANT CARER |

WELLNESS GROUPS: KNITTING & FIBER ARTS |
Minimum 4 months commitment, every Tuesday from 5:00-6:15pm |

Welcome participants, engage in conversation, teach basic knitting or crocheting skills. |
Good interpersonal skills, bilingualism, patience, ability to explain things in an approachable way, knitting or crocheting knowledge. |

WELLNESS GROUPS: YOGA |
Minimum 4 month commitment, Wednesdays from 12:45-2pm |

Doing yoga with a blind participants. Participant is mostly independent and no yoga training or experience working with blind people is required. |

RABBIT HOLE: MARKET VOLUNTEER |
Minimum 4 months commitment, biweekly on Wednesday from 10:45am-12:15pm. |

Help our affordable senior market run by helping seniors pick out their produce and noting what they took for checkout. |
Good interpersonal skills, good communication skills, bilingualism, ability to work in a team, patience. |

ADMIN: |
This role is on a callout basis. YD team will contact you when needed. |

Take photos at our events, edit photos if needed, and send photos to YD team to be used on our social media, website, promotional material, etc. Your work will always be credited! |
Knowledge of and passion for photography. Ability to work with the YD team to create photos that align with our brand and mission. Must own a camera. |

BOARD OF DIRECTORS |
This role is on a callout basis. YD team will contact you when needed. Minimum 2-year commitment expected |

Actively participate in regular meetings throughout the year; |

COMMITTEE VOLUNTEER |
The role is flexible, with meetings mostly happening online during the work week. We ask for at least a 6-month commitment. |

At the beginning of each month, we invite all applicants to a 30-min online group orientation. At the orientation you can learn more about our programs, ask any questions about volunteer roles, and receive information on next steps.
